PRIZES AND JUDGING

Judging

The panel of judges will come from the world of art, entertainment, sports, music and literature. The committee will judge based on the following criteria:

• Interpretation of theme

• Creativity

• Composition and technical skill

• Originality

Finalists/Winner Selection and Notification

Winners from the three grade divisions will be notified by email. The artwork of the winners and finalists will be displayed on the contest's social media sites and the Climate Champions website.

Grade Divisions:

Lower Grades (1-4)

Middle Grades (5-8)

Upper Grades (9-12)

Prizes

9 Winners will be selected - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place from each grade division (as defined above):

• 1st place will receive a $100 Visa gift card (plus a bonus of $500 for submissions received between October 1st and November 30th, 2024)

• 2nd place will receive a $50 Visa gift card

• 3rd place will receive a $25 Visa gift card

ALL participants will receive a "Climate Champion: Be A Hero" certificate (printable from a digital file).

We will have two submission periods in which students may enter their art on our website. The first period is from October 1 to November 30, 2024 and the second period will be from March 1 to April 15, 2025.  The judging of artwork submitted in  both periods will be completed in late April and the winners will be announced by April 30, 2025.

First place winners for each grade category (Lower, Middle and Upper Grades) who are early entrants and submit their art during the first submission period will receive a bonus prize of $500!  

Note: The prizes are not paid for by libraries or any government entity. The contest producer will make winning artwork entries accessible to news organizations in Texas; however, there are no guarantees that artwork will be published in print or digitally by any particular news organization or other company or organization.
